Norbrook’s Research Chemical Synthesis Division is situated in Carlisle, in the north of England. It occupies one of the most advanced Chemical Synthesis research facilities in the UK. It is ultra modern and was completed in the year 2000. Its mission is to develop and perfect to pilot plant stage and beyond, complex chemical processes, both sterile and non-sterile. The state of the art technology systems at this site are capable of dealing with the most sophisticated of processes, compliant with European and FDA standards. A wide range of reactors are available on site, varying from 1 Litre to 225 Litres capacity. Analytical facilities include atomic absorption spectrophotometry, chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). The operation presently synthesises a wide range of pharmaceutical molecules both for the parent company Norbrook, and for contract development and synthesis of third party requirements.
