Norbrook Research Chemical Synthesis Division is situated in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. It occupies one of the most advanced Chemical Synthesis research facilities in the UK. Its mission is to develop and perfect to pilot plant stage and beyond, complex chemical processes either sterile or non-sterile. Its ultra high technology systems are capable of dealing with the most sophisticated of processes compliant with European and FDA standards. There is a range of reactors on site, varying from 1 litre to 225 litres capacity. Analytical facilities are available from atomic absorption spectrophotometry, chromatography to nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The operation presently synthesises a wide range of pharmaceutical molecules both for the parent company Norbrook and for contract development and synthesis of third party requirements. An on-going capital investment programme enhances the range of facilities at Norbrook. This is designed to meet the demands of the future and combines substantial economies of scale at the same time as providing the flexibility to cater for the particular needs of specific and perhaps smaller market niches.
