Presentation:

 

An off-white suspension containing fenbendazole 5.0% w/v.

     

Product Uses:

 

A broad spectrum anthelmintic for the control of mature and developing immature forms of the following species of gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms and tapeworms in cattle and sheep. Fenzol 5% is ovicidal for strongyle eggs.

In cattle it is effective against the following parasites:

GASTROINTESTINAL ROUNDWORMS: Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp., Trichuris spp., Strongyloides spp., Oesophagostomum spp.

Lungworms:
Dictyocaulus spp.

Fenzol 5% is usually effective against inhibited larvae of Ostertagia spp. and in the control of Moniezia spp. of tapeworm in cattle.

In sheep it is effective against benzimidazole susceptible strains of the following parasites:

GASTROINTESTINAL ROUNDWORM: Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp., Strongyloides spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Chabertia spp.

Lungworms:
Dictyocalus spp.

Fenzol 5% is usually effective in the control of Monieziaspp. of tapeworm and provides useful control of Trichuris spp. in sheep.

     

Dosage Admin:

 

Cattle: 7.5 mg fenbendazole per kg bodyweight.
(7.5 ml Fenzol 5% per 50 kg (1 cwt) bodyweight).

For oral administration only. Give the recommended dose by mouth using standard dosing equipment. Dosing may be repeated at required intervals.

Shake the container before use.

Equipment should be thoroughly cleaned before and after dosing.

 

     

Contra Indications:

 

Animals should not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment.

Cattle may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 12 days from the last treatment. Sheep may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 14 days from the last treatment.

Milk for human consumption must not be taken during treatment. Milk for human consumption may be taken from treated cows only after 5 days from the last treatment.

Do not use in sheep producing milk for human consumption.

Do not exceed the stated dose. For oral use only. The bodyweight of animals should be assessed as accurately as possible before calculating this dose.

As with other anthelmintics veterinary advice should be sought:
(a) on appropriate dosing programmes and stock management to achieve adequate parasite control, and reduce the likelihood of anthelmintic resistance developing:
(b) if the product does not achieve the desired clinical effect, as other diseases, nutritional disturbances or anthelmintic resistance may be present. Direct contact with skin should be kept to a minimum.

Wear suitable protective clothing including impermeable rubber gloves. Wash hands after use.

Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with product or used containers.

Do not store above 25°C, protect from frost. Protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.

Fenbendazole belongs to the Benzimidazole (1 - BZ) class of anthelmintics.

In cases of lungworm infection coughing may persist for a considerable time following successful treatment. This is due to tissue damage caused by the parasites.

After dosing animals should be moved to clean pasture. If this is not done re-treatment at regular intervals will be required to prevent re-infection.
